Chengdu overview

About Chengdu

Chengdu is where most travellers come face to face with giant pandas, at the research base that breeds and studies them just outside the city. It's also the capital of Sichuan cuisine and one of China's most laid-back, teahouse-filled cities.

A relaxed pace suits Chengdu well — morning at the panda base, an afternoon in the old streets of Kuanzhai Alley, and an evening face-changing opera show. We can also extend into the surrounding mountains for Leshan's Giant Buddha or Mount Emei.
